Indonesia: Anti-corruption HRD attacked

Mr. Tama Satrya Langkun, a human rights defender from Indonesia was attacked on Thursday morning, 8 July 2010. Mr. Tama Satrya Langkun works in the Research and investigation Division of the Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW). The brutal attack against him is believed to be connected with his work at the ICW.

On 8 July 2010, at around 4:00am, Mr. Tama Satrya Langkun and a friend were riding a motorcycle in Kalibata, South Jakarta when a silver Toyota Avanza and two motorcycles blocked his path. Four assailants then attacked Mr. Tama Satrya Langkun by stabbing him with a sharp metal object and beating him at the head until he almost lost consciousness.
